SCV Constitution Day Summit: Reports from the field

As you well know, I’m a no show today, but we encourage users to submit their pics and stories from today’s event. Especially the pics. Updates to follow.

    Wish I woulda had my camera. So many fabulous outfits! My 7 year old said it best~ “Look at all these old men in wigs and knickers, Momma! You don’t see that every day!” It was a nice little event. Way too hot when we were there- I don’t know how the men managed to keep their stockings on. God Bless ‘em.

    Well, I had to check this out and I thought it was fantastic and wonderful and educational. All the costumes were fabulous and the drum and fife along with the young marines carrying the flags for each 13 states up over that hill down into the procession, along with the delegate’s right behind, really was impressive and nice touch to start out the day. The reenactment of the Preamble was priceless and made me roll on the floor laughing, what a bunch of characters and had the kids interested which is very important for such an event. The whole idea of having each state ask the children why they should ratify The Constitution was something that you could only hear with your own ears as children really got into it and could answer things about our Constitution. That made me very proud. I also loved that each child got a one page copy of the Constitution that they had signed by each state and then took it to the Weathering Pavilion where their own copy would be darned, hung up to dry and the kids could then take it home. And those Flag Builders of the Sojourn(? i think that’s right) were incredible with the building of the flag and its explanation of each stripe then each version of how the stars were placed. Over all, this was a really educational day for all that attended. I have pictures but it seems like this isn’t the place for them based on silliness from above or maybe just an inside joke I clearly don’t understand.

    Come to SCV gives a great and truthful report. The speakers were incredible including one who gave a brilliant explanation of “Natural Law”. It was brilliant to have this event at West Creek Park-next to Rio Norte which was hosting the local AYSO soccer games. Many folks came across the street to visit after their games-keeping the parking areas quite congested. Very little partisanship at the event except for the Ron Paul supporters who wore their campaign caps and t-shirts. These folks are more smug than Prius drivers.

    Petz, we agree on little, but as a smug Prius driver, I too scoff on Ron Paul’s supporters.

    Petz, I do know that anyone with partisan affiliation’s were to check them at the door if they were volunteering for this event. If they could not, they would be no longer participating; the organizer was quite adamant about this. If someone was not in costume or wearing a designated volunteer shirt than they were not with the SCV Constitution Day Foundation. And I didnt see the Ron Paul people but I did see a few Tea Party shirts so that is how I have the information above because I asked the question of one of the organizers. I hope that helps if any.

    Petz correctly reports that there was little inter party partisanship at Constitution Day , however there was clearly an under current of deep discontent among the participants and attendees about the looming showdown between Patricia McKeon and Scott Wilk. The SCV Patriots are squarely in the Wilk camp and one could often over hear whispers about this race. I heard one noteable conservative say “The problem with Patricia McKeon is that she could lose the seat” :0 Another said McKeon will raise a lot of “out of district money” but local support “boots on the ground” is nonexistent except for those whose personal futures are tied to Buck McKeon. A thoughtful Conservative told me that this race is exhibit one in the effort by grass roots Tea Partier to restore meaning to the words “Republican Party” after having it usurped by those with membership in the TPC and The Lincoln Club. This community can be very proud of the Herculean effort to educate the citizens about the Constitution. In a way, the SCV Patriots are facing the same issues as our forefathers : with strength , courage and a firm reliance upon the grace of our Creator.

    I was actually at this event from the beginning to the end and I spoke with so many people – now granted I didn’t know anyone so maybe didn’t think to ask about such questions at Constitution Day – but this recap seems to come from insiders only and not the one’s I was introduced to that put on such a great show. Since I am not one of these insiders, I feel blessed to have not heard any of these conversations and only talked about important things, like the days events. Being new to this community, I can honestly say that I was proud to be living in an area that really cares about educating their children as I’ve seen quite the opposite while in LA. Thanks to the few folks that had such a marvelous vision and to create such a beautiful event. Oh, looks like The Signal seems to get it right and enjoyed the day as well. Id have to disagree with there only being 200 people to witness this as it was more like 200 people at one time through out the entire day but that of course can be forgiven as i’m sure they wouldn’t be able to be there as long as I was because of all the stories they needed to cover.

    I wasn’t poking fun at the man, just his tight clad thighs. Ironic and funny to see folks like that in partial drag. To me, anyway. Lighten up y’all.

    Thanks for the photo, much obliged. There is something to said about men in tights and knickers, *Sigh*. The juxtaposition of the smart phone is a little disconcerting.
