  • Neighbors of that disputed private tennis court in Newhall say they feel like they live in the Happy Valley Correctional Facility and estimate their home has lost $175k-200k in value since the tennis court -with its high fences and powerful lighting- was built. They're suing the City for damages and the City is suing the tennis court property owner. SIGNAL

  • Deputies not only arrested Colt Doherty, the driver of the Mustang involved in the collision that took the life of Dakota Demott back in January, they also arrested a driver of another car, who was racing Colt. Joseph Vensko, also of Canyon Country, will face vehicular murder charges as well. Some Signal commenters are upset about the charges, with one saying "One boy is already dead Lets not lose more of our kids to this tragedy." SIGNAL, SCVNEWS

  • Allyson Felix wins gold in the Women's 200M sprint and Lashinda Demus, a track coach at COC, wins silver in the women's 400-meter hurdles. For the first time in my adult life, I'm proud to be an SCVer. What a day! With the inevitable sponsorship deals, could Allyson Felix become the most famous SCVer in history? SCVNEWS

  • Another SCV WW2 veteran dies: Harry Gratz, 94, served in the European theater and called Canyon Country home. A frequent LTE writer, he "was instrumental in the Veterans Historical Place" and was an advocate for the elderly and veterans. SIGNAL

  • I don't have a link, but I looked it up last night and it's been as hot in the SCV as it has been in Las Vegas over the last few days. Let me repeat that: it's so hot that leaving the SCV for Las Vegas in August actually sounds like a rational thing to do.

  • A driver plunged 75 feet off a ravine on Bouquet Canyon road near the reservoir but suffered only minor injuries. SIGNAL
