In the wake of yesterday's interesting KHTS write-up about the debate between Scott Wilk and Ed Headington in the race for 38th Assembly District, a local Republican club is threatening, well, I'm not sure what exactly, but it feels like excommunication.
In the article, KHTS' Mark Archuleta says Paul Strickland -Hart Board member, failed 38th District candidate, and general Republican man about town- has endorsed Ed Headington, the Democrat running for Assembly:
Strickland has until the end of the day today to rescind his endorsement of Headington according to the terms of this fatwa. Notice too how the press release doesn't even mention Headington's name, as if he was some sort of local Democratic Voldemort.
Also- a "Unity Pledge?" These people take themselves way too seriously for a group of forty or so individuals who meet to discuss politics while wolfing down Rooti Tootie Fresh 'n Fruities.
Paul, if you do get excommunicated from the clubhouse, consider it a badge of honor. And Republicans aren't the only ones who can pledge: I pledge to vote for you during the next Hart board race if you stick by your convictions despite the club's attempt to silence/intimidate you.
