- Six Flags Magic Mountain announced yesterday that it will build another new roller coaster in 2013. Named Full Throttle, it will feature a "a never-been-done-before launch up and over a “Top Hat” that traces the outside of a world-record loop, towering 160 feet — plus a zero to 70 miles-per-hour acceleration on two forward launches and one backward launch into and out of a special effects tunnel." - A former treasurer of a Canyon Country youth sports association has plead no contest to embezzling $256,880 from the association. The money was stolen via "dues paid by hundreds of parents of youth football players and cheerleaders from across the SCV" according to SCVNEWS
- Chief Becker says nine people have died of heroin in the SCV in 2012 so far, not including four who have committed suicide due to the drug. And physicians at Henry Mayo Hospital have treated 380 heroin overdoses in the past year. SIGNAL
- A 50 year old Santa Clarita woman named Tabetha Berry gets some ink in the Wall Street Journal today as the focus of a new Ebay policy. You see, Ms. Berry sells around 60 psychic readings on eBay a month for about $15 each, accounting for about 80% of her annual income. But eBay has decided to prohibit the sale of "metaphysical goods" on its site, meaning Berry will need to find something else to sell. She tried to sell psychic readings on Craigslist but ended up getting propositioned, so now she's going to sell shoes. WSJ
- Whoa: Supervisor Mike Antonovich is visiting North Korea this week as part of a "delegation seeking to learn more about its government, economy and culture." The Daily News notes that fewer than 1,500 westerners are allowed into the isolated ultra-commie country each year. I'd go DAILY NEWS
