Scout Abuse in the SCV, ctd

A reader digs deeper on the LA Times' Boy Scouts Abuse files:

So there are indeed two scout abuse files related to Saugus.  One is Troop 585 which is an LDS troop actually in Canyon Country that dates from 1987 and is strangely listed as "pending."  The second dates from 1997 and is Troop 2, a troop that I was actually involved in from 2008 to 2010 with our youngest son David.  No names are given and no documents are available, which is probably why Alan Cameron wanted someone to launch an investigation.
I have a vague recollection from something I heard on the John and Ken show that the Troop 2 situation might relate to a Santa Monica Scout leader that was run out of scouting in the 80's but then showed up as a volunteer in his brother in law's scout troop in Santa Clarita.
I hate to say but from my own personal experience I have ZERO interest in involvement in any organization that does not involve my children or grandchildren, so men that are interested in volunteering when they don't have children or other relatives involved are just in my mind automatically suspect.
