  • City Council Meeting: Mark Archuleta accused KHTS of manipulating local news coverage, TimBen offered to give up his cash-in-lieu medical benefit dollars if the rest of the Council (who makes much more from cash-in-liew) would give up theirs, Councilmembers voted to fund a study of the Lyons/Dockweiler Rail crossing and oh yeah, there were public comments too.   •  The October 14 deaths of a man and woman in a studio apartment in Newhall likely weren't a murder-suicide as initially thought by the apartment's owner, but rather are possibly heroin overdoses according to the Signal, which reports today on increasing amounts of heroin overdoses locally. Toxicology tests are pending on 51 year old Jeff Donnelly and his girlfriend, 29 year old Christine Towner. Towner's Facebook profile shows a young, pretty woman. Her funeral is today. SIGNAL
  • The ten truck pileup that shut down the southbound I-5 truck tunnel yesterday was probably caused by a dump truck driver who lost control of his vehicle. SIGNAL
  • On Sunday evening at Henry Mayo Hospital, a 28 year old man tried to choke a nurse. Mayo isn't saying much about the incident but Deputies have arrested a suspect and he's being charged with a misdemeanor SIGNAL

  • The last Old Town Newhall building facade improvement project funded by the Obama stimulus will be celebrated today SCVNEWS
  • Last week, the LA Times unveiled a new report on abuse cases inside the Boy Scouts of America. I looked then to see if there were any local abuse cases and there weren't, but Alan Cameron pointed out that two had been added to the database from Saugus. No files are available on the sexual abuse cases but the paper's map database shows at least two incidents in 1987 and 1997. LA TIMES
  • Congrats to COC on opening their new TLC & library expansion section today. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 1pm. Jealous I didn't have these amenities when I went to COC SCVNEWS
