Another boutique charter coming to town?

This one backed by Silicon Valley interests according to one reader:

Today I heard an ad for a new charter school on KHTS.  Apollo Public Schools is a new charter coming to Santa Clarita, offering Mandarin and entrepreneurship, grades 6-8?  There are some info nights coming up soon at the Marriott Residence Inn on the Old Road.

They have a Facebook page that indicates they are affiliated with Summit Public Schools, a Silicon Valley startup with Oracle execs and Meg Whitman on their Board. They have performance-based pay, a "rigorous" curriculum and are taking $5000 donations per seat.  Judging by their website, it's nothing like a small local charter.  Clearly someone thinks more charters are ripe for Santa Clarita.  Could this info have had some influence on the SUSD vote on Einstein?  The big shots are coming to town.

Sounds like the Bullis Charter school we read about in a Bloomberg article earlier this year, a Silicon Valley charter that was almost all white and populated by the sons and daughters of Silicon Valley execs.
