Some Democrats are mad at me for posting the other reader's observations that when his son wanted to help Obama, the local Dem offices were closed and no one was home. Carole Lutness:
I like seeing these shots of youth involved in politics. The local Republican club says they're going to send me some pictures of kids calling from their HQ, as well.
Most students in my high school Civics & Government classes were cynical or just not interested in the subject matter. It's refreshing to see kids actually phone-banking, even if they're doing it for extra credit.

SCV Democrats, ctd
Jeff- I am baffled that you wrote such a mean-spirited, ill-informed piece about the Dems. 1. The HQ hours are posted on the door as well as a sheet w/ tel #s. So if your friend couldn't read them, I don't think that is the Dems fault. 2. I think you are several years behind on Dem insider politics. I and many Dems are members of both groups. Each group has a specific role - SCV Dems does a lot of speakers meetings, going into issues at depth. DAA does the activism - VR/Phone Banking/ Walking, etc offering a place to meet candidates. 3. We have a lot of students walking/phoning, etc at HQ. 4. Where do you get your information about "the Lutenesses who are distinctly unattractive to young folks?" I would like you to talk to the dear kids we have great talks w/ at HQ to see what they think of us.
Next time - why don't you check your facts before you write distortions. I am always available but there are a lot of great Dems to ask - Mike Kulka, Diana Shaw, Patti Sulpizio, Minerva, etc.
I can send you the hours to post if you would like them.
Well to be fair, I didn't criticize Carole myself, that was the reader. As for the "Dem insider politics," I admit to being several years behind on the gossip and skinny. I last got involved with the local Dem groups during the Bush Administration when we all boarded the Metrolink Protest Train and headed to downtown Los Angeles to march with some 50,000 anti-war activists. There were plenty of 'normal' Dems and also some fringe 9/11 conspiracy types on board that train. I ended my association with the local Dems after that.
I don't harbor ill-will to the Lutnesses at all; apparently my other reader does.
Another reader posts a picture to Facebook of SCV Dem youth phone-banking with Lee Rogers:
