- Hart Board member, City Arts Commissioner, defeated Assembly candidate, general man-about-town, and accused RINO Paul Strickland has announced he is resigning from his seat on the Hart Board and leaving the SCV for Florida for a new job opportunity. The Hart District will have to either appoint someone to the board or hold a special election, which Joe Messina says costs too much at $225k. Farewell Mr. Strickland. SIGNAL, KHTS
- What a guy: Canyon Country resident and JPL engineer Richard Cook is one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people. - Senator Boxer reintroduces bill to solve long-running CEMEX dispute, but CEMEX says it doesn't provide enough compensation to the Mexican mining giant and Buck McKeon's office says they can't do anything because of the earmark ban. SIGNAL
- 15 year old West Ranch High school girl hospitalized after consuming cookies "laced" with marijuana another girl gave her. The creative baker student was arrested by a Deputy while the status of the girl who at the cookies isn't reported. SIGNAL
- State Senator says Jerry Brown's prison realignment bill has "unleashed and unprecedented crime wave" in California communities. The SCV Sheriff's Station says it re-arrests one third of inmates who have been released, but as we've covered before on this blog, correlation does not equal causation and crime stats are hard to measure and define. KTLA shows the pretty women and weathered old men, NBC 4 calls it one of the "premiere rootin' and tootin' to-dos in all the west" and the City kicks off the event by adding three stars, including Lee Marvin, the our world-famous Walk of Wester Stars.
