Awesometown's Pocket of Not-Awesome: For several years now, the former home of The Greens (once the SCV's most elite putt-putt course) has been on a gradual descent into blighthood. At one point, the site was eyed for a new hotel. Meanwhile, officials say the abandoned building has become a haven for transients and drug deals. Now the city is stepping in. KHTS
Looking to the Community: It's something no parent certainly ever wants to go through: An SCV family is looking to the community (and holding a garage sale tomorrow) for aid in raising surgery funds for their three-month-old daughter, who could need to have her entire right lung removed. KHTS
Making an Appointment: With Stephen Winkler officially out of the picture, the Saugus Union School District is moving ahead with appointing someone to fill his seat. The Signal
A Story With Teeth: After 20 years, the Foundation for Children's Dental Health is shutting down. Not because of tight financial times, however. According to the foundation, they've achieved their mission and seen a drastic reduction in the need for emergency dental services. The Signal
I Senses a Theme: The city is gearing up for a July of Thursdays @ Newhall events, from a patriotic extravaganza, to Mexican folk dance, to rockabilly (of course that's the day we leave for Canada). City Website
Lower Taxes, Pricey Gas: George Runner announces that a drop in the state excise tax on gasoline is coming this summer. But, um, don't exactly expect to see prices go down (Cue up another "Pain at the Pump" news story, complete with person on the street interviews!) SCVNews
Drought Makes Less Room for Boom: There was a time when July 4 meant four fireworks shows in the SCV to choose from. If you found the right spot, you could easily watch two or three of them. Now, we're down to two. (Cues up good memories of watching the fireworks from the roof of The Signal building...) The Signal
He Won't BB Doing That Again Soon: A Canyon Country man was arrested on assault with a deadly weapon charges after reportedly cruising around Town Center and shooting BBs from an Airsoft gun at people. KHTS
I Guess 3 Days is Better Than No Days?: An L.A. man arrested on a felony charge after he allegedly stabbed someone during a brawl outside Mabel's Roadhouse was sentenced to 3 days in county jail. The Signal
There May Be a Communication Problem: Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon said he's tired of hearing the latest DOD news from the media instead of first hearing it presented to the House Armed Services Committee. The Hill
Standards of Beauty: A journalist had 25 Photoshop artists around the world edit her photo, and the results are an interesting look at ideals of beauty around the globe. Sploid

"arrested on assault with a deadly weapon charges" Can you really kill someone with an Airsoft gun?

Probably not, but you can definitely do damage to a person's eye if you hit them there. Not discounting the terror one would feel as a car pulls up to you and some fool points what looks like a very real gun at you... He should get jail time for felony stupidity.
