Crunch Time for Candidates!!!

So a communication with the Clerk’s office and as of  2:00 pm January 11, 2009 the following ELEVEN candidates had pulled papers for nomination, to wit:

THE INCUMBENTS

Frank Ferry

Laurene Weste

Marsha McLean

CHALLENGERS WHO MADE ANNOUNCEMENTS

David Gauny

TimBen Boydston

Harrison Katz

THE COMIC RELIEF

Johnny Pride (sorry to the Johnny Pride partisans, but there is NO scenario where Johnny Pride gets elected in this universe)

THE WANNA BES

David Galvan

Daniel Henriquez

Kenneth Mann (don’t know him)

THE SHOCKER

Henry Schultz!!!!!!

I also learned that as of that time NO CANDIDATE had returned their nomination documents to the Clerk’s office for validation of signatures.  Come on folks!  It is crunch time!

I also learned the addresses of the candidates.  (The Clerk’s office mercifully does an initial check to make sure they are actually residents of the City) and hear is how it stacks up by community.

Valencia    Four candidates

Newhall  Three Candidates

Circle J Ranch  Two Candidates

Canyon Country  Two Candidates

No one from Saugus!

For those SCVTalkers that believe in a higher power, I would ask that you say a prayer tonight that Johnny Pride completes his documents successfully so that something at least mildly interesting happens in this campaign!

Crunch Time for Candidates!!!

Common Tim, it’s Gauny, David Gauny.

I don’t consider Placerita Canyon to be part of Newhall. Horses and ranches aren’t how I roll. Please call people who live there “P-Canyon Residents” as opposed to Newhall residents. K THX BAI

oh nice research by the way. Would me cool to see some maps and also drill down to the candidate’s actual neighborhood and streets to see the real choices.
  4. Timothy MyersJanuary 12, 2010 at 6:20 am
Jeff: I thought about that but until they really confirm their status as real candidates I didn’t want to call out their actual home addresses.

PS I meant come on Tim…spelling is Gauny.

It would seem that there will be hundreds of votes split across the board of non-finishers. What a horse race! TM, get your abacus out and start putting together some odds. Who wants to bank the wagers?

navigator: Henry Schultz now holds the pistol to the heads of Dave Gauny and TimBen Boydston. In 2006 he got 3,512 votes in a field of 11. TimBen and Dave CANNOT afford to have that many votes peeled from the pool of folks who did not vote for the incumbents the last time around.

Tim, Have you talked with Henry lately? He won’t draw 3000 votes this time around
  10. Timothy MyersJanuary 13, 2010 at 12:55 pm
navigator: 1,500 to 2,000 votes by Henry is enough to upend the slim hopes of TimBen or David.
  11. navigatorJanuary 13, 2010 at 1:56 pm
I will grant you that but it would seem that anyone voting for Henry would be voting to change the Council and probably vote for TB and possibly DG or one of the other vote grabbers.
  12. Timothy MyersJanuary 13, 2010 at 2:20 pm
Navigator: It’s the “one of the other vote grabbers” that causes the problem. The margin against the incumbents is so slim that a challenger can basically have NONE of the people who don’t like one or more of the incumbents voting for ANY incumbent or deciding to vote for another candidate.
  13. PetzJanuary 14, 2010 at 12:19 pm
Anyone else see Petz at the city clerks office this morning?
  14. Timothy MyersJanuary 14, 2010 at 12:32 pm
Petz: Did they dive under the desks and try to breathe real shallow?
  15. PetzJanuary 14, 2010 at 12:58 pm
Kevin warned me about you. They were very accomodating and detailed in the description of the process necessary to file all the paperwork.
  16. navigatorJanuary 14, 2010 at 2:46 pm
TM, I would agree totally with your last statement. Any vote for “the other guys” is a no vote for incumbents.
