  • City of Santa Clarita and County of Los Angeles not happy with Governor’s new budget. Actually, I think the proper adjectives are distrust and suspicion. On the chopping block is $12.5 billion in spending, Enterprise zones, redevelopment agencies and more. But there are proposed tax increases too, tax increases Cameron Smyth says he won’t support. Gov. Brown says it’s best if California takes its medicine now SIGNAL
  • George Runner, the new board member on the board of equalization, says the budget is too harsh on businesses. He’d rather see the entire state become an enterprise zone KHTS

  • The letter Laurene Weste wrote to Congressman Sherman on immigration reform was intended to represent the majority opinion of the City Council after last year’s “immigration summit”, says City intergovernmental relations officer Mike Murphy, whose office helped compose the letter. Bob Kellar is ticked that he didn’t see the letter before it went out. Tea Party people plan to protest tonight’s Council meeting. SIGNAL

    I’m not a supporter of Brown, but generally, if everyone is pissed off he probably has got the right plan.

    Hey Jeff, I just wanted to add that the SCV is uniting online in support of a 5 year old Stevenson Ranch girl diagnosed with Leukemia. Her parents are both self-employed and her mom is due to give birth in just weeks. We started 20 Dollar Tuesday to help them keep their insurance and allow them to stay by their daughter’s side during this very difficult time.     Surprised the City folks are sticking by their guns that the Weste letter represented a “majority of the council.” Tonight should bring fireworks because I know a lot of these Tea Party folks and they are not close to Midwestern Lutherans; in other word, they can’t suppress their emotions.

    The part I find surprising is that anybody gives a sh*t about the letter; I somewhat doubt that the US Congress and Pres. Obama give much thought to the immigration policy recommendations of the Santa Clarita City Council.

    Petz was confirmed Luther Church Missouri Synod in Grand Rapids ,MI. He has no problem controling his emotions. Maybe you should page through Luther’s catechism for a refresher.

    Missouri Synod is all about controling one’s emotions. Petz went pentecostal about 15 years ago. FYI to all the old Talkers-BK will be baptized this Sunday-God is good !

    spineflower hits the nail on the head. After Bob’s immigration letter, the letter by Ferry to my employers during the election, a letter like this almost appears to be a finger in the eye of the constituents who have protested each and every one of these letters. If nothing else is accomplished tonight (like we’re really going to solve the immigration debate this evening) I want a discussion on ending the use of city letterhead for these purposes agendized for a future meeting. Can I get an Amen Tim?

    Kevin: Where I come from anyone willing to write a letter like that to someone’s employer better be ready to back it up in the parking lot. In other words, that letter should have never been written, and probably none of these letters should have been born.

    It seems Weste believes it is her way or the highway! Often said this council is a joke and still believe it. Kellar notwithstanding of course.

    Weste may have one eye on her city job and one eye on a higher office. If anyone has that ability it is Weste.

    You would be wrong. I know people that have known Weste for over 30 years. The only disability I hear about is related to trustworthiness.

    Toyota is really lsipping. Look at them 5 years ago… no Chevy Bolt, no other electic cars, and they OWNED the hybid market. But with their quality and customer relations fiascos, and their weak plug-in hybrid (only a dozen miles and then ONLY if driven with an egg between your foot and the gas pedal), and they are getting swept off their pedestal by Ford and GM. Who would have though this possible? They had better have an all-electric car available in a year or two, or they may fall even lower. And this is from a multiple-Toyota and Prius owner!

    How about they call Doc Brown and get one to run on the recyclables I somehow am sending to China weekly.
