Tony Hawk was at Santa Clarita Skatepark!

As a devoted gamer who grew up grinding virtually in the many Tony Hawk video games (but never as a real skater), my mouth dropped upon hearing that the legendary skater and industry kingpin had visited our skatepark ysterday:

There he is. You can see the bridge in the background.

I think I join all pimply-faced and loose-panted SCV youths in mouthing a long and expressive, “Wiiicked!”

    Tony is a class act, and deserves all of the success he has come upon. On a side note, any skateboarder (or parents of, etc) in the SCV needs to so themselves a favor and check out “Push Exchange” skate shop near the skatepark itself. Such a cool place, and they take used gear for credit. Locally owned and operated by a long time SCV skater….

    It’s pretty cool indeed. Giving some juice to the local skate population. It’s actually a pretty well known park at this point. And that’s saying something these days with the amount of parks out there.

    Our skate park is a class act and it attracts the same. Unfortunately there are those who are not a class act that appear there as well.

    Always. And truth be told, I wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s no way you can “box” skateboarding up and present it as safe and clean all the time. The grime is where it started.

    I’m glad to see he’s wearing a helmet in this pic. I don’t understand why there aren’t more moms making their kids do the same. And I don’t understand why the city doesn’t enforce the rule requiring them.

    It’s near impossible to do so. As an adult, I see the obvious and overwhelming need for helmets. But as a skateboarding kid? We HATED wearing helmets.

    I had the same thought Readermama, I cringe every time I watch the Xgames with my kids and there are skaters without helmets… bad idea. Tony Hawk in our neck of the woods is definitely cool.

    Bill would not be caught walking around with a hat on backwards, gold teeth and loose jeans. Bill’s one of those pot bellied old retired guys with grey hair, yellow teeth and loose shirts grumbling about how much better it was when he was young and yelling at people and animals
