No you were not reading the Onion this morning if you saw two stories in the Signal about Patricia McKeon's candidacy for Assembly. First, Mrs. McKeon relates the proto story of her candidacy inspiration due to the County bag tax at a Stevenson Ranch market (which we roundly mocked on SCVTalk last week). Among her major qualifications for Assembly:

Watching Fox News and reading HuffPo and MSNBC on the interwebs, and listening to NPR in Washington taxicabs;

Being the treasurer for Buck's campaign and "guarding all the $25, $10, and $5 donations." Who handles the donations with three zeros behind these numbers that come from the defense industry?

And if you hadn't thrown up already, one can visit Mrs. McKeon's parallel universewitha lightning round of her quotes on the issues which includes a reference to a "little gal." I'm not kidding.The only saving grace? Known right wing commenters on the Signal website are piling on Mrs. McKeon. Let's see how long before the Signal turns the comments off.

Two residents of Santa Clarita plead guilty to federal fraud and money laundering charges brought just under a year ago connected to a phony debt collection business. One interesting detail: The businesses website said they were located in Fresno while their "true" business address was in Bakersfield. You've got to wonder about criminals when they believe a Fresno address is swankier than B-Town.

We can't solve very many daylight homicides in the SCV but car burglars beware! Sheriff's deputies nab another three after a chase in Newhall which brings the total to six in less than a fortnight.

In a continuing feature we reference Jon Hatami's Facebook page to see if he is addressing and making promises on more issues that are not within the writ of the City Council, not legal or both. Newest edict is a "revelation" that four out of five City Council members are completely beholden to PAC's, particularly Laurie Ender. On a happier note, the FB page has 6 more "likes" since Friday. At this rate Candidate Hatami will be up to 300 likes by election day; firmly in David Galvan territory.
