No Daily Brief – September 21, 2011

I had a beautiful daily brief all prepared while on the the bus, but by the time I got off the bus, my internet connection died (Thanks Verizon!) 9 out of the 12 entries were not saved and not time to retype.

It was a good brief too. It really flowed from on entry to the next. Alas it’s lost to the ether.

Since you weren’t able to post the Daily Brief, here is a little non-news story for you from over on ROSCV written by Liz Thatcher: “Hey Bill, thanks for the info. I’d actually never been on SCVTalk, before. It was really interesting. About Jeff, Nate, and SFC Perez, all I have to say is I find their faux martyrdom disgusting. There are people throughout history, and even to this very day who have given their lives for principles. Right now there are American soldiers risking their lives, there are people in Yemen who have lost their lives this very day, there are political prisoners wasting away in concentration camps, and they want to pretend that the Tea Partiers are out to execute them??? It’s kinda sad really… these rebels without a cause trying to pretend that they’re in so much danger in their boring, little suburban, middle class lives. Well, I guess that’s more exciting than arguing interminably about the correct spelling of ideologue, John Calhoun, or the Whig party. These guys are petty, inconsequential, and boring as all get out. All of them like to needle me about being young, but I’m starting to figure out that age doesn’t mean maturity. Hey, I’m going to be in town next month, hope I get a chance to meet you!” Wow, all this over a minor joke that implied truly nothing. And I really needed Liz to educate me on living a comfortable life in middle class suburbia. No, I have never deployed and fought in multiple wars. No, I never grew up in a city outside Chicago that would make Pacoima look pretty. No, I have never had to move within 30 days of receiving orders from the Army. Picking up my entire family and relocating anywhere in the country/world I am told to. Nate, we need to invite this young lady to Tuesday Coffee Chat.

And I guess now I am a Liberal because I believe everyone should have equal rights in our country, we should take care of those who can’t take care of themselves, and that you shouldn’t use racial or ethnic slurs. Nevermind the fact I am an avid supporter of the military(no effin shyt), am personally against abortion(it should be one’s choice within the law), am against illegal immigration, believe in holding individuals accountable for their actions and not make excuses, and have voted Republican since I was 18. This strikingly sounds like, “GET OUT OF OUR CLUBHOUSE!” Ahhhhh, the life of a RINO.

ND that is insulting to those of us who post on RightOnSCV and respectfully disagree with some of the other posted commenters. I am also surprised JP made those comments since mostly he has been treated well by the others posting.

Berta, The debate feels 2 dimensional on RoSCV. You either agree or disagree, and it’s mainly the former. I’m a regular reader (comments and posts) and miss the nuances that I get from this forum and others.

ND I also read, agree and disagree, and comment on both sites, which is why I find your generalization comment insulting. SCVTalk has a wider audience, so there is bound to be more variety of content. I also enjoy the discussions but not the “nuances” if they involve personal attacks and name calling by anonymous posters. There is much less of that on ROSCV.

Berta, he hit it on the head with regards to the “Either you are with us or against us” mentality on ROSCV. Maybe it is because there is a larger audience here than there but doesn’t negate the overall mood there. I think you and I agree with quite a few things politically so we see most from a similar vantage point. I incured Liz’ wrath because I was critical of Sue Hartman’s writing style and said it was horrible and extreme, which I stand by. I didn’t insult Sue personally and was only commenting on that which she put in the public eye as the blog’s author.

Simply stating a gripe or fact doesn’t equate into self declared martyrdom. I do notice you hold a different standard for those who are not right of center and/or you just don’t speak out against the Conservatives.
